AND THE LIST GOES ON

The only place where n = n+1 is possible is possibly at the infinite. Humans are mostly at infinite. We always tend to want more; eventually more becomes more and more.

We want everything in excess, the result of which HAS DUMPED us in the ERA of consumers. We consume more than what we need; we dispose the things that are completely usable. This affects the climate, the working of the body, the life cycle, the inflation, the employment, name it and we can connect.

when I read my friend’s status message, which said “flight delayed by 14hrs, free internet, free food, what more do I want??”. Perfect even I would be happy with jus that, but Imagine if the same goes on for another 10hours, ok can manage, but after that as the clock ticks by, I would definitely like to rephrase the sentence.

Lets see, lets imagine the situation and go on. Free internet, free food, After being logged on to face book for some time now and seeing different photos of different people, I ll want a good camera to post my own pics, and then even though I am going to transfer the data in to the comp almost everyday, I ll want a greater capacity memory card. What is knowledge without power, so, now I ll want some batteries. How long can the same location put up with my face, I ll want to travel around and click more pics. Travelling… Transport please… more fuel please.... more Dress please, Can’t wear the same dress for too long, new ones now and ya sorry I forgot, matching foot wear and wrist gears please… when I am travelling I need to talk to friends and family, for that, I need a mobile phone with camera, music player etc etc. and to hold songs that are not on the mobile, an IPOD. What can all these things do without food? Restaurants …

. . . . . . . THE. . . . . ….. LIST. . . . .. .GOES . . …. ON….

Oops the list, I want some paper and markers, I need to go out to buy them, need a mobile to text my friends and hear TO some songs on the way (when I am going to buy them). The way?? vehicle, fuel, ….. THE LIST REALLY GOES ON AND ON….

And after completing the list with lots of difficulties, I come back home and sit in front of the MEDIA. Advertisements all over, new products, updates…..

Then I realize my OLD GOODS (not because they are really old, its jus because there are more newer goods, thus making the new goods old, so that the newer goods can become new and on the way products can become newer ones).

WHAT TO DO??? I AM HELPLESS AGAIN AND TO HELP MYSELF, THE LIST GOES ON.

  1. Its really sad when that small kid says he'll use the money for his tuition fees and another kid saying he'll use it to buy a new sonata watch..Its always been a consumer world and has become worse in the last decade. We should know what we buy, where the money goes and what purpose it serves us.Alcohol, smoke, designer underwear, wild haircut!!Is all this really necessary when many families out there starve for a proper meal a day? Nice blog..

  2. cool post, the video gives a good finishing touch. Having infinitive needs characterises the nature of humans . Its the nature of the need which qualifies whether it is humane or inhumane ...

  3. Nice header to the topic u ve posted."THE LIST GOES ON". i like tat. A debatable and an intersting topic. But u know wat. To convey this very importatnt info calld " the consumer world" to people ,even u ve used a PC rite?tat includes me too. tats the world we are in.The world's changed. I'd like to share a feeling i had today , which i think is related to this topic.

As all my friends were busy today, i decided to go sumwhere else other than the beach. so I went around roaming in d eveng in a "CYCLE". ya u got tat right.. "A CYCLE". Its been a hella long time since i rode a cycle. i was reliving my memories, those days, wen i used to cycle evrywhre possible. It was a wonderful experience jus to b cycling.Wen i was going in the busy traffic , i noticed very very few cycle users. The roads were filld with 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers tat thrs hardly space for anyone going in a cycle.not to mention,I did have sum close calls too. i felt driving the cycle in these roads were dangerous. tats how much life has changed. "MATERIALISTIC"--> tat sums up the roads and our lives. IT IS A SAD FEELING AT THE END OF THE DAY. people , including me seem to have more comforts but less time, less satisfaction.

  4. @prashanth & harshid: ya indeed the video gives a good summing up.. its sad to see such a vast gap between need and want

@Vivek: true dude.. thats wy even today, i cycle as much possible. travelling in a bus... all these things gives a lot of experience

ya rite, THE PC!#(^@)) but i would term it as necessity. may i would put it this way.. using a commodity is not wrong, but we should know its worth, i should not use a MP3 jus because u are using it...

  5. hmmm..i fully agree with u.. but as far as i have seen, people tend to compare their things with others. for eg. a mobile,an ipod, a bike or a car even. this sort of a feeling is there in most people, which i think will reduce only if the self realises that he/she needn't have a costly, showy mobile or an ipod jus for the heck of it. if people realise this, most problems would dissolve.
